SHOPPERS in WGC were treated to a spot of live choral music in support of charity.

Staff from Hertfordshire Action on Disability (HAD) were out in force at the Howard Centre, to raise awareness of their work and collect donations.

They were supported in their efforts by Welwyn Harmony Chorus, who performed two sets of songs to attract passers-by.

HAD’s business development manager Linda Cudmore said: “The choir came and they were amazing. They sang a real mixture of songs.

“We had lots of people stopping and talking to us, and we were very lucky to raise 158, which in small change is no mean feat.

“Hopefully more people will be aware of our services now.”

HAD has a number of events lined up in the coming months aimed at raising awareness of its work.

On August 17, both HAD and the Hertfordshire Society for the Blind will hold an open day at their Woodside Centre offices in The Commons, WGC.

That’s followed by two more awareness days at the Galleria in Hatfield, on September 8 and 9, when WGC choir Singing For Pleasure will provide the music.

Then on September 21, HAD hosts its annual golf day at WGC Golf Club.
