Hatfield mum fined after child misses school
PUBLISHED: 07:00 28 November 2018
A Hatfield mum has been fined after her child failed to regularly attend primary school.
The mother did not attend Stevenage Magistrates’ Court when her case was heard on November 9, neither did she enter a plea.
In her absence the bench “refused to adjourn the case as they felt she had been burying her head in the sand”.
The case was subsequently proved in her absence and she was fined £220.
She must also pay £30 to victim services and costs of £125.
The court heard how her child had failed to regularly attend school over a six-month period this year.
