The Mixed Group hosted the event at Terranova in Stanborough Park, WGC, which also included a tombola with over 80 prizes – ranging from whisky to garden gnomes.

The charity provides annual Christmas Day meals for lonely and elderly residents in the borough.

Welwyn Hatfield’s deputy mayor, Lynne Sparks, was among nearly 60 visitors late last month, and the food-filled evening raised a total of £1,004.

Mixed Group founder Sean Cox said: “The meal was delicious. It included soup for starters, followed by a wonderful penne Bolognese and then tiramisu for desert.

“There was also coffee, wine and soft drinks available for everyone.

“It is lovely to see so many people coming and showing their support, which goes a long way to helping those who really need it in the borough.”

The charity’s final fundraiser before Christmas is a quiz night on November 12 in Douglas Tilbe House, WGC.
