A TWO-CAR smash has caused chaos on the A1(M).

The collision, between Junction 4 and Junction 6, happened just after 1.10pm today (Tuesday), when a car span off the northbound carriageway, through the central reservation and ended up on its roof, on the south-bound carriageway.

Hertfordshire police closed the road southbound and put a roadblock in place on the northbound carriageway.

The cars involved were a silver Ford Focus and a black Audi TT.

A police spokesman said both stricken vehicles were awaiting recovery.

The spokesman said no one was injured in the crash.
