CCTV images have been released of a group of men who police want to trace in connection with the rape of a girl in Southend.

The girl’s attackers are believed to have travelled to Essex from Hertfordshire.

The assault happened when a 15-year-old girl from the town was sexually assaulted by several men behind Adventure Island off Marine Parade at 10.30pm on Friday, April 8.

The images are of a number of men, who were in a group near to the crime scene, two of which Essex Police say are central to their enquiries.

Senior investigating officer, DI Colin Norton, said: “These two boys were with a group of around 20 other young people who we think started out on the arcade side of the road, but then crossed over to the beach. “We think they travelled into Southend for the night and then returned to Hertfordshire.

“The girl spoke to several people before and after the assault took place and we’re confident that those people will be able to help us.”

Anyone with information should contact detectives at Southend police station on 0300 333 4444 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
