CCTV images of a man police would like to speak to following an alleged theft of a wallet and a phone at store in Welwyn Garden City have been released.

A 36-year-old man went into Cole Green Wine on Cole Green Lane and bought alcohol.

He then left the store but forgot to take his wallet and mobile phone, which he had placed on the counter while paying.

A second man has then entered the store and purchased items.

While standing at the counter, police believe he picked up the victim’s wallet and phone and placed them in his pocket before leaving.

The offence took place at 6.15pm on Friday, June 1, but police have only released the CCTV appeal this week.

Pc Paul Edmondson, who is investigating, said: “So far the man pictured has not been identified and we would to speak to him as he may have witnessed the incident or have information that can help our investigation.

“If this is you, or you believe you know this man, please get in touch with police as soon as possible.”

Call police with information on the non-emergency number 101.
