A MAN is fuming after his expensive bike was stolen from outside a supermarket in WGC.

Thamasis Mastrogiann had ridden his black component bike, worth £550, to Waitrose in Bridge Road on Sunday last week.

While carrying out his weekly shop inside the store, a thief cut off his bike chain attached to the cycle – which was secured to a rail.

When Thamasis, of WGC, appeared 10 minutes later at 1.35pm, his bike was gone.

He told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “I am speechless, sad and angry.

“I have no insurance on the bike and am facing a huge loss.”

He added: “It appears that it was a targeted attack on my bike, somebody may have seen me on it and followed me.

“My day-to-day habits have been affected and I would urge anyone who saw anything to call the police.”

The bike’s serial number is WUD092123096E.

A CCTV image has been released of a man police would like to speak to in connection with the theft.

A spokeswoman said: “Officers would like to speak with the man pictured in relation to the incident.

“If anyone recognises him, or if you have any information about the theft, please get in touch.”

Call police on 0845 33 00 222.
