A WOMAN has made a heartfelt plea for dog owners to keep their pets on leads after her treasured cat was savagely killed by two border terriers.
The cat owner, who did not wish to be named, spoke of her sadness after the attack, on the footpath near Moneyhole Park, Welwyn Garden City, last Sunday afternoon.
The three-year-old cat, called Poppet, was cornered and mauled, later dying of her injuries at the vets.
The woman said: “We’re very upset as a family because pets become part of the family. Next time it could be a child.”
She is trying to trace the owner of the dogs, and urged anyone with information about the attack to call police on 0845 33 00 222, quoting reference 3006511.
