A Potters Bar supermarket is doing its bit for local carers in a summer event.

Sainsbury’s on Darkes Lane will host charities as part of Carers Week 2018, an annual event highlighting the work of carers.

Between June 11 and 17, local carers groups such as Marie Curie, Carers in Herts, and the local GP surgeries group will be in store to talk to customers and colleagues about the work they do and to share details of support that is available for carers in the local area.

In the UK, 6.5 million people provide unpaid care to a loved one who is older, disabled or seriously ill.

Carers UK gives expert information and advice tailored to meet carers’ needs and champion their rights, and find ways to improve their lives.

Karen Staples, manager at Sainsbury’s Potters Bar, said: “Many of our customers and colleagues are carers, and this is an important event to recognise those that have caring responsibilities and to inform people about the help and support that is available to them.”
