BASEBALL bat-wielding thugs stole a Mercedes from its owner's driveway.

An eyewitness spotted three men leaving a detached house on The Ridgeway in Cuffley and challenged them.

The attackers threatened him and tried to escape in a BMW getaway car.

But he tried to removed the keys and smashed the back window before they sped off, taking both cars with them.

The armed robbery occurred at 1.20pm on Saturday.

Detective sergeant Paul Rogers said: "The BMW is obviously distinctive because the back window was smashed - and the stolen Mercedes has German number plates, so is also quite unusual."

There were three were all in their late 20s.

One is white, slim, brown hair, wearing a red jumper and jeans.

The second is white with shoulder length black hair.

The third man was Asian wearing a red and white T-shirt.

Call police with information on 0845 33 00 222.
