ARSONISTS set a car alight in Hatfield at the weekend after smashing its windows.

Sometime before 2.30am on Saturday morning vandals smashed the driver’s side window of a silver Volkswagen Golf parked on Millwards.

They then set fire to the driver seat before making off in an unknown direction.

Police are now investigating and are appealing for information.

DC Glen Turrell-Oldacre, from the Local Crime Unit in Hatfield, said: “We know that the fire service received a number of reports from different people at the time who did not leave their details.

“I would like to speak to anyone who saw this incident but particularly those who called the emergency services initially who have not yet spoken to police.”

Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference B2/13/2483.
