Police are appealing for witnesses after a car was broken into while parked at Gosling Sports Park in Welwyn Garden City.

Crooks forced entry to a Seat Ibiza by damaging the driver’s side lock, before taking two iPhones, a wallet and jacket last night (Tuesday) between 8pm and 9.20pm.

A police spokeswoman said officers are investigating and urged anyone with information to contact them via non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference B1/18/409.

The victim’s girlfriend said: “The people on the reception desk said there was no CCTV around the car park so there’s not much they can do but said that they’d have a look in the morning, and a crime report has been filed with the police.”

A spokesman for Greenwich Leisure Ltd, which runs the Stanborough Road facility, said: “We can confirm that a car was broken into in the car park at Gosling Sports Park, on the evening of January 30, 2018.

“The matter has been reported to the police and this is currently under investigation.”

He did not confirm whether there is CCTV covering the site.
