A man lost control of the brakes and drove into an elderly woman's house in Hatfield.

Police were called to The Wades at 10.17pm on Saturday, October 1.

A man in a blue Renault Megane had driven into a house, and was sitting outside the car when police arrived.

There was no significant structural damage to the building, and no one was injured.

Police found it difficult to communicate with the driver as English was not his first language, but he explained that something had gone wrong with the pedals and he had difficulty braking.

The driver was breathalysed and had no trace of alcohol in his system.

Firefighters were also called to the accident but left after four minutes, as no one was trapped and no firefighting was required.
