TWO people were taken to hospital this morning (Wednesday) following a collision between a car and a lorry on the A1(M).

Ambulance crews were called to the northbound carriageway at 5.32am, after the car collided with the rear of the lorry between junction 6, Welwyn and Junction 7 Knebworth.

Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "On our arrival the car was embedded in the rear of the lorry which was on the hard shoulder.

The driver, a man, freed himself prior to our arrival and the front seat passenger, a woman, required freeing by the paramedics and the fire service. Both were conveyed to the Lister hospital in Stevenage, both received minor injuries.
