THE largest women-only fundraising event in the country is returning to Welwyn Hatfield - and here is your chance to be a part of it, writes Chris Lennon.
Entries have this week opened for Cancer Research UK's Race for Life 2008 event.
The Welwyn Hatfield race - which is sponsored by the WHT - will take place at Stanborough Park in WGC on Sunday, June 8.
Race for Life sees women of all ages come together and walk, jog, or run five kilometres to raise money for charity.
A total of 750,000 women across the UK race in more than 260 events.
Many who take part do so for a personal reason - some women are cancer survivors while others take part in memory of or to celebrate the lives of loved ones affected by cancer.
Area event manager Kate Francklow said: "We hope this is an invitation women can't refuse.
"At Race for Life there are thousands of women of all ages and abilities, shapes and sizes who will motivate and inspire each other to complete the 5k course.
"Many simply walk round, chatting and having fun, but all share and enjoy the incredible sisterhood and spirit on the day."
She added: "Last year's events had an unforgettable atmosphere and we raised an incredible £150,630.
"This year, we are hoping that 2,200 women will sign up to take part in the Welwyn Hatfield event, helping us to raise a target of £175,000."
