A new £1 charity shop in Hatfield has taken almost £3,000 in its first week of trading.
Launched by the Isabel Hospice, the venture sells clothing for £1 per garment and opened in White Lion Square on March 15.
Store manager Gemma Gough said business has been going “brilliantly”, and in-between serving customers, she told the WHT: “It has been manic.
“When the shop opened on the Saturday there was a queue of people outside [waiting] to come in.
“And we made about £1,500 when we opened that day.
“We had to restock with 60 more bags worth of stuff overnight.”
She added people have also been coming into the shop throughout the week and have been very generous with donations.
Children and baby clothes have been among the most popular purchases with customers.
She said: “It is all quality stuff.
“It’s like opening Christmas presents.
“I think we will do quite well here.”
The shop is open 9am to 5pm seven days a week.
Donations can be left round the back of the shop or dropped off at the counter.
