A REDUNDANT bus shelter has been given a new home, leading to savings of nearly 5,500 in the process.
The structure, which had been earmarked for retirement, has been relocated from Hatfield to Cuffley railway station as part of Welwyn Hatfield Council's Community Chest scheme.
A new shelter would have cost the council 6,000 but, by recycling the existing facility, it incurred costs of just 620.
Northaw and Cuffley ward councillor Colin Couch said: "The reused bus shelter is an excellent example of local waste management.
