TWO brothers have been charged with murder after a decomposing body was found near a village wood.

Daniel Davies, formerly of WGC, and Troy Shuldt, were brought in for questioning as police hunted for the killers of 69-year-old Danny Spires.

Shuldt, 19, of no fixed abode, was arrested in Salisbury Road, WGC on Monday.

Shuldt and Davies, 23, from Alma Road, St Albans were charged with murder yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

A third suspect, believed to be Davies’ girlfriend, Samantha Smith, 21, also from Alma Road, St Albans, was also charged with conspiracy to murder.

All three are in custody and due before Central Herts Magistrates’ Court in Hatfield today (Wednesday).

The murder hunt was launched after the corpse of Danny Spires, who is well-known to the police, was found by a member of the public in a wooded area of Bradmore Lane, Brookmans Park.

Detectives believe he had been dead for a number of months.
