LESSONS took a back seat for girls at a Brookmans Park school, as they spent an afternoon raising money for charity instead.

Students and staff at Queenswood School, in Shepherds Way, donned fancy dress and took part in a 5km walk around their 120 acre campus, to raise money for the school’s three chosen charities.

With many students wearing face paint and several others brandishing skipping ropes, the walk was in aid of Central Herts YMCA, Kenyan orphanage Nuru of Mombasa and Ludzi Girls’ School in Malawi.

In total, 385 students and their teachers took part in the whole school event.

Event organiser Amelia Munday said: “We never cease to be amazed by the enthusiasm of the girls to raise money for worthy causes and for the generosity of all their sponsors.

“A big thank you to everyone involved.”
