Brookmans Park road expected to reopen next week

A road closed by subsidence in Brookmans Park is expected to open again next week.
Shepherds Way was closed on Saturday, February 15 when cracks appeared along the edge of the tarmac.
It comes after a period of heavy rainfall.
Herts Highways are expected to resurface the road on Saturday and Sunday, during which the road will remain closed.
They hope to reopen the road next week.
In the mean time Police are asking drivers to adhere to the closure.
PC Ross Freeman, from the Welwyn Hatfield South Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Due to the roadway being unstable and its close proximity to a water filled ditch, the decision was made that it is unsafe to allow vehicles to pass over this stretch of road as it would put people at risk of harm.
“Hertfordshire Highways have been fully informed of the situation and will be dealing with the matter in due course.
“However, people are removing the cones and the police tape, and driving through, putting themselves and their vehicles at risk, as well as causing further damage to the road surface.
“We appreciate that this is an inconvenience to people who regularly use this stretch of road, but it has been closed for your own safety.
“I would to appeal for people using the roads in this area to be patient and take another route.”
