Bride rings the bells at her own wedding

MOMENTS after this bride took her vows she was sharing the happy news around her village by ringing the church bells herself.
Claire Derrett-Smith had begun bell-ringing at St Mary’s Church, Old Knebworth, after a taster session last summer.
So when somebody suggested she should ring the bells at her own special day, the 36-year-old jumped at the chance.
With a specially-reinforced full-length wedding dress on, she left her new husband James and joined her fellow ringers straight after the service on Friday and wowed her guests with her chimes.
Photographer Joyce Wilson was there to catch the action, as you can see from our photos.
Claire, of Bellamy Close, Knebworth, said: “I had always wanted to have a go at bell-ringing, but thought it would be difficult.
“I had a go at the open day and it was such fun, and the bell-ringers were so patient with me.”
Before the service Claire told the WHT: “I have got to come out, pick my dress up and get ready.
“The dress has been reinforced, I didn’t want it ripping.”
Speaking on Monday, Claire said: “It really was magical.
“We had all eight bells ringing.
“It wasn’t quite perfect, you could tell which bell I was ringing, but the others were fantastic.”
Claire, who is a stay-at-home mum to Emily-Alice, four, and Oliver, two, also looks after a smallholding at Rableyheath.
She said: “We had a baby lamb born on Friday too, we named him Gold as to us he really was priceless and made our magic day even more special.”
