IT is 60 years since Breaks Manor opened its doors as a youth centre in Hatfield.

Now, former members and friends are busy networking to promote a diamond jubilee reunion.

The chosen date is Saturday, October 29.

It will take the form of an open house (‘Take a Look At Us Now’) in the afternoon, followed by a diamond jubilee reunion and celebration buffet supper in the evening.

Memories

Borough councillor Linda Mendez, former member and recent chairman of The Breaks, said: “We want this to be both a celebration and a reunion, with lots of opportunities to share memories of the great times we used to have at the youth club.”

The jubilee steering group is keen to hear from former members (including the 20-35 Club) and staff who would like to join in the celebrations, and welcomes contributions of photographs and other memorabilia. Breaks Manor is in Link Drive.

Anyone wishing to contact the steering committee with a view to joining in the fun should email or phone one of the following: Jean (Draper) Hollier – jean.hollier@live.co.uk, 07805 104553; Ted Collie – ecollie769@aol.com, 07788 594086; Kirstin Whybrow – kirstin.whybrow@hertscc.gov.uk, 01707 263201.
