A FIVE-YEAR-OLD boy is without his beloved pets after they were stolen from a hutch in his back garden.

Daniel Scott has been left "heartbroken" following the theft of Guinea the guinea pig and Fluffy the rabbit (pictured).

Burglars struck on Wednesday at about 5am at the house in Puttocks Drive, Welham Green.

Daniel's father, 36-year-old Shane, said: "I heard noises from the guinea pig at around 5am.

"Normally I go and check but this one time I didn't go, which makes this worse.

"I woke up again at 7.30am and went to check on the animals and the hutch was open and they were gone.

"It is terrible, I can't believe it and my son is absolutely heartbroken."

Charlotte Hartley, from the crime management unit at Hatfield police station, said: "I would urge anyone who saw the incident, or knows anything about it to come forward and help us with our inquiries."

Guinea is black and ginger, with short hair and Fluffy is grey and really fluffy.

A cash reward has been put up for the safe return of the pets.

If you have any information, call Charlotte on 0845 33 00 222.
