Hertsmere Council has said it is optimistic that its clampdown on rats in a Potters Bar park is working.

There has been an increase in reports of rats in Oakmere Park, and the council has been taking to steps to address the issue.

A spokeswoman said: “Our pest control officer has been laying bait ahead of some traps being set early next week.

“We think numbers have declined slightly.”

She urged people not to feed bread to ducks as it is a “huge aggravating factor”.
