MORE than 50 cans of lager, six bottles of vodka and duty-free cigarettes were confiscated from under-age drinkers in a single night.

The boozed-up teens were caught in both WGC town centre and at WGC's Woodhall Parade.

As well as having their alcohol taken, which also included bottles of cider and whisky, letters will be sent to their parents.

The crackdown was a joint operation between the street wardens and police.

A Welwyn Hatfield Council spokeswoman said: "We are committed to working together to stamp out underage drinking.

"As members of the Welwyn Hatfield Community Safety Partnership, the council and the constabulary are determined to protect young people from the hazards of excessive drinking, which can make them a danger to themselves and others."

Future crackdowns are planned.
