Waterside Academy’s reception class was invited to Couzens Bakery in Haldens to purchase a donut as part of their lesson about how money works.

Karen Catlin, early years leader and reception teacher, said they were given a “warm welcome” by the staff who showed the children what they bake on site.

Each child handed over a coin, telling the shop assistant its value.

Karen said: “The children loved this opportunity to spend money and eat a donut in their cafe.

“Waterside Academy would like to thank Mr Couzens for his kind generosity.”
