Police were given the run-around by a suspected hit-and-run driver in Potters Bar, who still managed to flee the scene after a second crash.

Officers were called at 6.17pm yesterday to a two-vehicle crash in Dancers Hill Road, where one of the vehicles had failed to stop at the scene.

The ambulance service also attended and the road was closed.

However, while police were on the scene, a black pick-up truck, believed to be the same vehicle that had made off from the initial crash, skidded into a hedge.

A police spokeswoman said: “The driver made off from the vehicle.

“Officers gave chase and conducted a thorough search of the area, assisted by the police helicopter, but no suspects were located and enquiries are continuing.”

If you have any information that could assist the investigation, please call 101 quoting ISR 683 of November 1.
