SCOUT leaders met at County Hall to take part in the Hertfordshire Scout Councils annual awards ceremony.

The event is designed to highlight the time and effort put in by beaver, cub, scout and explorer scout leaders and to thank the leaders for making the scouting centenary year such a success.

Potters Bar was well represented with seven leaders receiving their woodbadge, the decoration presented when a leader finishes their training.

Other leaders received long-service certificates, awards of merit for conscientious, imaginative and dedicated service to scouting, Silver Acorn award for most outstanding service to scouting and one recipient of the highest scouting award, the Silver Wolf, which is awarded for most exceptional service to scouting and is only given with the recommendation of the chief scout.

Scouting in the county is strongly supported by local authorities and we thank them for their continued support.

Mayors from all the Hertfordshire councils were present.
