Police are treating an assault in Codicote this week as attempted murder, although they have released two suspects on bail.

Two men, aged 26 and 30, have been bailed to return on future dates, while police investigate exactly how a man in his 30s received serious injuries in Codicote High Street on Wednesday afternoon.

The alleged attempted murder victim was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge after receiving head and thorax injuries at about 3pm.

Police are trying to trace a third man, and detective chief inspector Jo Walker has appealed for anybody with information to call the non-emergency number 101.
