THEY have been almost two years in the offing.
But now, finally, the long-awaited CCTV cameras earmarked for Darkes Lane and High Street are set to be installed.
Two poles, intended to support the cameras, have stood empty in each street for the past 20 months.
However, the Potters Bar Edition can now reveal that, if all goes according to plan, the two new cameras could be operational within one month.

A spokeswoman for Hertsmere Borough Council said: "We are currently in the final stages of negotiations with EDF Energy which is supplying the electricity to the cameras.
"The power should be connected and the CCTV operational in the next four to six weeks if all goes to plan.
