Boy attacked in Hatfield swimming pool

A teenage boy was left with facial injuries after being attacked while swimming at Hatfield Swim Centre at the weekend.

A Herts Police spokeswoman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “Officers are investigating an assault which took place in the Hatfield Swim Centre pool on Saturday, November 17, between 12pm and 1pm.

“Following an altercation, a teenage boy was assaulted.

“The victim sustained cuts in the mouth, a bruise to the back of his head and a swollen lip.”

A spokesperson for GLL, which operates under the brand Better, said: “The safety of our customers is paramount.

“On Saturday, our staff intervened to separate a fight in the swimming pool.

“A teenager was given first aid by a staff member.

“We have spoken to the boy’s mother and advised her to report the incident to the police.

“We will of course, support any investigation.”
