A YOUNG family were forced to flee their home after arsonist set fire to the property – for the second time in less than a year.
Firefighters were called to Lincoln Close at around 4am on Wednesday, after a porch caught fire, causing three people – including a seven-month old baby – to evacuate.
Both WGC fire station’s appliances attended, as well as the stations retained appliance, and extinguished the flames using a high pressure hose.
The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate, starting from a tyre that had been placed against the door of the property and set alight.
The house was subject to an almost identical attack on October 13 last year, at around the same time of morning, when once again a burning tyre had been placed against the door.
Police are now investigating.
WGC fire station commander Rad Bristow said: “We had the fire out quickly. The main thing is nobody was hurt.”
