THREE stolen mobility scooters were set alight – almost causing catastrophy for residents in a block of flats.
A fire crew from WGC was called to Node Way Gardens in Welwyn at about 8pm last night (Thursday).
The scooters had been placed against the side wall of flats in the road and torched.
Firefighter Dean Harrison said: “The blaze did damage the vents into the flats, but luckily it didn’t get any further.”
The incident follows a spate of mobility scooter thefts in the village in the past month.
