Police investigate arson in Welwyn Garden City

Police are investigating an arson at a business in Welwyn Garden City.

A police spokesman said: “Police were made aware of a fire in Johnsons Dry Cleaners on Fretherne Road, by the fire service at 9.05pm yesterday (November 21).

“Between 7pm and 9pm, offender(s) have set fire to napkins which were wedged in the rear doorway, before making off.

“Police are investigating the incident as suspected arson and enquiries are on-going at this stage.”

Two fire crews from Welwyn Garden City attended the scene in Fretherne Road.

They used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel.

The left the address at 9.48pm.
