Two former Arsenal players are just two of the names signed up to take part in a huge charity cycle ride.

Bob Wilson and David Seaman will join hundreds of cyclists on Sunday, May 10 for this year’s Hertfordshire 100 event.

The event, which starts and finishes in Stanborough Park, Welwyn Garden City, is helping raise funds for Hatfield-based charity Willow.

Back for its second year, the Herts 100, organised by Bike Events, has three distances to choose from.

Each of the 25 mile, 60 mile or mighty 100 mile routes takes the riders through the rolling Hertfordshire landscape and whether you’re a keen cyclist or reluctant rider it’s a great way to get fit and raise money.

Bob, 73, is co-founder and life president of Willow, the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days.

He said: “After last year’s successful event launch, I am delighted that Willow is this year’s benefiting charity. The different distances mean that it’s a great event for all levels and I encourage everyone to give it a go.

“David and I plan to take on the 60-mile challenge.”

This won’t be the first cycling fundraiser Bob has participated in for Willow.

In 2011 Bob’s Soccer Cycle saw him ride an epic 500 miles in 11 days across the country visiting Premiership football clubs, raising more than £300,000 for the charity.

As a close friend of Bob and Megs, David has long supported Willow, taking part in various fundraising events.

Places are still available but are filling fast.
