Arrests in Hatfield after £60,000 money laundering raid

TWO men from Hatfield were arrested after £60,000 was seized in a money laundering raid.

The cash, sourced after a search of a property in Edgware, was made up of £50 and £20 notes.

An address in Grove Lea, Hatfield, was also raided, and a 24-year-old and a 28-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

They were bailed until March.

Three others were arrested at the Edgware address.

A 26-year-old and 22-year-old woman, from Edgware were arrested on suspicion of money laundering and bailed until March.

A 23-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of theft and given a police caution.

The raids were carried out by officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary's economic crime unit with assistance with the Metropolitan Police.

Detective sergeant Chris Saunders from the economic crime unit said: "This is an extremely positive result and demonstrates our continued crackdown on those who are suspected of committing money laundering offences.
