A 30-year-old and a 29-year-old are currently in police custody, but Hertfordshire Constabulary was unable to confirm what they were being held on suspicion of.

Detectives appealed for information following the discovery, by a passer-by, of a man’s body in a grass area opposite Peartree Lane, off Broadwater Road, at 6am.

Detective Inspector Tim Redfearn, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are investigating this incident following the discovery of a man’s body on the grass area close to Peartree Lane at 6am this morning.

“The investigation is still in its early stages and I am appealing to anyone who may have any information which could assist us to come forward.”

He added: “We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the Broadwater Road area who may have heard an altercation in Woodhall Court between 10.30pm and 11pm last night (Thursday).

“We would also like to speak to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area over night from 11pm onwards to contact us immediately on the non-emergency number 101 quoting Operation Pedigree or by calling Crimestoppers, the independent charity on 0800 555 111.”
