Armed robbery at Welwyn Garden City bookies

A member of staff at a Welwyn Garden City bookmakers was ordered to open the till and betting machines by a man brandishing a gun.
Officers investigating an armed robbery in Welwyn Garden City are appealing for information and witnesses.
The incident happened at Betfred in Cole Green Lane just before 10pm on Sunday, September 24.
A police spokesman said: “The offender approached the store, which was closed, and smashed a pane of glass.
“He entered the shop carrying a firearm before threatening a member of staff, forcing them to open both the till and the betting machines.
“He took a quantity of cash before making off from the rear of the store in the direction of Longlands Road.
“No one was injured during the incident.”
The offender is described as male, around 6ft tall, and of slim build.
He was wearing a motorcycle crash helmet, dark clothing and spoke with a local accent.
