Armed police at traveller encampment in Welwyn Garden City

An armed police response unit is currently in attendance at an unauthorised traveller encampment at a building site in Welwyn Garden City.
Bailiffs are evicting the travellers from private land in Broadwater Road today, after they set up five caravans on Tuesday, October 25.
Armed police are assisting the bailiffs to evict the travellers from the building site, which is at 41-45 Broadwater Road.
The travellers have locked up doors and the Armed Response Unit have tools to cut through the locks.
Both police and Welwyn Hatfield Council have been liaising with the landowner and the travellers.
