WORKERS at a WGC warehouse will close the doors of the business for the final time this evening (Thursday).
As the Welwyn Hatfield Times revealed in January 2009, the Argos warehouse is shutting down, leaving 140 people to either take redundancy, resign, or be relocated to Magna Park Distribution, in Leicestershire.
Work previously done at Bessemer Road is now being moved to Argos’ Castleford site, in West Yorkshire.
One worker told the WHT: “The owners are planning to split the site into three units; the main warehouse into two units and the outbuilding at the rear will be fenced off and marketed as one unit.
“But this won’t take place until 2011 when current contracts run out, so the warehouse will be standing empty for about a year.”
