The Welwyn Hatfield Times' parent company Archant has done the double for charity
Staff on all Archant’s papers who raise money for charity have the chance to apply for matched-funding from the company.
Over the years it has supported Welwyn Hatfield Times editor Terry Mitchinson in his many and varied charity challenges.
This year was no exception. But in January there was a double celebration.
For Archant not only match-funded Terry’s efforts on the 2015 Rotary Club sponsored walk – but he was also chosen as the Archant Gold Fundraiser of the Year, “for his serial fundraising over many years”.
As a result, a cheque for £244 was handed over to the Welwyn Hatfield branch of the British Heart Foundation, matching what he raised on the walk.
And an extra cheque for £100 was presented to Willow, based in Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City, the charity of which he was a founder trustee 16 years ago.
Willow chief executive David White told the WHT: “Thanks to Terry’s success as Archant’s Fundraiser of the Year 2015, Willow has received much-needed funds which will help us to support young adults in Hertfordshire and beyond.
“Terry’s continued support is invaluable – from his previous role as one of the charity’s founding trustees, to the tireless fundraising 16 years on.”
