A WELWYN Garden City garage will be working with police to protect number plates this week.

Welwyn Tyre and MOT Centre, at Unit 8 in Quadrant Park, Mundells, will be fitting anti-theft screws free of charge for two weeks from today (Monday).

The fitting takes less than 10 minutes but drivers will need to arrange an appointment by calling 01707 322399.

The screws have been supplied by police.

Inspector Paul Lawrence, of the Crime Reduction Unit, said: “Criminals steal number plates and use them on other vehicles whilst committing crimes.

“The number plate screws are an effective way to prevent your vehicle from being targeted.”
