Anti-Tesco campaigners petitioning in Welwyn Garden City

IF you’ve wandered into the Howard Centre on a Saturday morning over the past month, you’ve no doubt seen WGC Society members drumming up support for its objections to Tesco.

They’ve been collecting signatures for what they call “a massive petition of thousands of names” against the planned development in Broadwater Road.

If you want to add your voice to their protest, you can find them in the WGC shopping centre today (Saturday) and next Saturday, June 25.

Dr Dennis Lewis, for the society, said: “Their numbers will be increased by an influx of half-a-dozen local residents who have volunteered following the very successful public meeting last Wednesday at Campus West.”
