A SCHOOL is celebrating after receiving a glowing report in their recent Ofsted inspection.

Staff and pupils at Harwood Hill JMI and Nursery School, in Harwood Close, WGC, are delighted with an "outstanding" rating in 30 of 31 judgement areas.

The other area, the extent governors and supervisory boards discharge their responsibilities, was classed as "good".

In her report, inspector Dorothy Bathgate said: "Harwood Hill is an outstanding school that makes a real difference to the lives of its pupils.

"The school has successfully created a happy and vibrant atmosphere where pupils of all abilities and backgrounds do their best."

The school, which has 171 children, was praised for pupils having a well above average attendance and for priding itself in creating a warm and caring ethos.

Teachers were highly commended for their pupils' excellent progress and for working as a team to maximise the quality of what goes on in each classroom.

Headteacher Sue Cousins said: "We are delighted to have this recognition.

"The report is a fitting tribute to the hard work of both the staff and children with the support of all our parents.

"I am very proud of their achievements.
