MORE than 1,000 people enjoyed a summer fete in Welwyn Garden City over the weekend, with two professional footballers among the guests.

The event, hosted by the Welwyn Garden City Football Club, saw Adam Thompson, of Watford FC and Chezz Isaac, of Braintree, make an appearance.

Membership secretary Karen Fisher said: “It exceeded all my expectations.

“We just wanted to do something for the community. Panshanger is such a big area but their is nothing to do for families.”

On Sunday they had a host of different activities, at the club’s grounds in Herns Way, including four live performances and plenty of stalls to keep people entertained.
