Aldi asks residents for views on new store for Welwyn Garden City

Aldi is understood to be looking at a specific site in Welwyn Garden City for a new store.

Residents have reportedly received correspondence from the low-cost supermarket chain asking for their views on a new store.

Aldi is understood to be looking at a site in Bessemer Road near the new Marston’s pub, which is currently under construction.

The Welwyn Hatfield Times reported that Aldi was interested in opening a store in the town back in December.

At the time an Aldi spokesman said: “Aldi is considering numerous locations across the South East and Welwyn Garden City and Potters Bar are two such locations where we are still actively seeking a site in the hope of bringing an Aldi store to the area and creating jobs for the surrounding communities.

“We hope that it will not be too long before we can bring retail choice to these towns and provide shoppers with high quality products at everyday low prices.”
