FUNDRAISERS will be putting their best foot forward in the bid to get Hertfordshire its very own air ambulance.
WHT editor Terry Mitchinson and Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps will be joining forces at this year's Rotary Walk to raise vital funds for the Herts Air Ambulance Appeal.
The annual sponsored walk, being staged by the Rotary Clubs of WGC and Hatfield, will take place in May.
Hertfordshire currently relies on Essex for its helicopter to be on call to patrol our skies - while trying to raise the £250,000 needed for its own one.
Mr Mitchinson said: "This is such an important appeal and we want everyone to get behind it as much as they possibly can.
"It is important to promote it as much as we can, and me and Grant got together and decided to do the sponsored walk."
Mr Shapps stressed that securing the money for the county's own air ambulance has been made even more vital by the recent decision to downgrade the QE2 Hospital.
He said: "The decision to close our hospital accompanied by how bad the stretch of A1(M) between WGC and Stevenage can be, it is important that we have an air ambulance.
"It is such a great cause to be involved in. It is really important to us as a county and is something which the public are willing to back."
The appeal has currently raised over £160,000.
