Ways to improve Welwyn Garden City town centre have been discussed at a series of workshops.

The sessions were organised by the WGC Town Centre Partnership.

The idea was to give businesses in the area a chance to air their views and suggest projects they would like to implement.

“This forms part of the consultation of businesses across the town centre to gather views on projects which they would like to see in a Business Improvement District (BID) business plan,” said Chis Hooper, head of branch at the John Lewis store in Welwyn Garden City and chairman of the Welwyn Garden City Town Centre Partnership which is leading the project.

“This is an important part of the development of the plan, together with the surveys and interviews being held on a one-to-one basis with businesses, which explore their thoughts in more detail.”

Business ideas from the workshops will be combined with findings from the interviews and surveys to identify projects for the business plan.

There will be a further series of workshops later in June when businesses will consider the amount of levy they would pay and how this money would be allocated to the projects identified in the plan.

Mr Hooper said: “If any town centre businesses have not yet met with a member of the BID team to discuss your future business needs, please contact them as soon as possible to arrange a meeting.”

Businesses who want to download the survey and find out more can go the BID website at www.wgcbid.co.uk
