A Hatfield-based water company has donated more than £2,000 to Herts Middlesex Wildlife Trust.

Affinity Water donated £2,680 to the trust through their community engagement programme, which was set up to help local community groups apply for funding for specific projects that benefit their area.

The wildlife trust will use the money to raise awareness of the wetland habitat of Lemsford Springs, to help educate the community on the importance of the quality of water in the environment for wildlife and to increase biodiversity.

Herts Middlesex Wildlife Trust senior reserve officer Jenny Sherwen said: “We’re very grateful to Affinity Water for their generous donation towards our work at Lemsford Springs.

“The reserve is a really special place for wildlife, particularly for wading birds. Affinity Water and our dedicated volunteers are helping us to protect this precious habitat.”
