The A1(M) will be closed overnight between junctions three at Welham Green and four at Oldings roundabout.
The closure from 10pm on Saturday and 6am Sunday is part of the Hatfield tunnel refurbishment works.
The Highways Agency is currently working on a two-year improvement plan within the tunnel.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area and a diversion for motorway traffic in both directions will be via the A1001, Comet Way.
